Expert Witness specialising in Home-Education
|
|
|
|
I am an Educational Psychologist and specialist in home-education.
Cases where I may be of assistance involve Divorce, Local Education Authorities
and Social Services.
As an expert in my
field I undertake assessments, usually in the child's home, that assist in evaluating the child or children's
educational, psychological and social well-being. This information can then be used at court or for any other
relevant purpose. My reports are based upon my research and experience
with home-educated children and their families.
Whilst I am engaged by solicitors acting for a family, my duty as an Expert Witness is to the court and my
report is therefore factual and research based. The report I supply expresses my expert opinion regarding
the issues surrounding the case and home-education. My services can be paid for through Legal Aid.
I have been involved with research into home-education since 1996. My initial study was the first of its
kind in the UK and reports on the academic and psychosocial assessments of home-educated children, and
interviews with families. My work represents the foremost quantitative and qualitative study in the area.
Other than my work as an Expert Witness, I recently completed a Post-doctoral Research Fellowship based at the University of
Durham.
Part 35 of the Civil Procedure Rules relating to Experts are available
here.
If you are involved in a Court case I strongly recommend that you consult these CPR rules
since they set out all the procedures you will be required to follow in the Civil Courts.
